GENERAL HOTEL POLICIES

 

Sommerville Resorts:

Dear Guest,

We would like to make your stay as comfortable as possible at this relaxing Jamaican resort retreat. Therefore you should be informed which services we render, what we are responsible for, and which responsibilities you have towards us. Please review these general hotel policies, which regulate the contractual relationship between the parties and which you accept by booking a room at our hotel. As they may vary per room type, please also check the reservation confirmation.

Check-in: 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Earlier or later Check-in is possible upon prior reservation with the Hotel. For late Check-in we do require a copy of your ID and valid credit card details for pre-authorization prior to your arrival.

Check- out: 7.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Earlier or later Check-out is possible upon prior notification of the Hotel. We reserve the right to charge late Check-out fees.

Cancellation: Best Price/Standard rate: If canceled or modified up to 30 days before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If canceled or modified later, 20 % of the total price will be charged. If we are able to re-rent the room(s), we charge only the price difference. In case of no-show, 100% of the total price will be charged. Non-refundable rate: you will not be able to cancel or modify the booking and you cannot change the date of arrival. We strongly suggest that you book travel insurance. All cancellations must be made in writing. 

*We reserve the right to waive cancellation fee in the event of a catastrophic life event with verifiable proof of such event*.

Smoking/Cooking: Strict no smoking policy in rooms and hotel premises (smoking is expressly allowed on the terrace and in the bar). Cooking and or reheating food in the rooms is not allowed. The hotel is fully equipped with sensitive smoke detectors.  Should it be determined that smoking/cooking has taken place in a guestroom, the hotel reserves the right to charge a US $100.00 cleaning fee, any additional applicable fees for alarm will be placed on the guest folio before or after check-out and the guest may be evicted with no refunds.

CANDLE, INCENSE, ESSENTIAL OILS:
Candle, incense, essential oils (diffusing, vaporizing, etc.) are prohibited.  These items and activities will be treated as smoking, a fine accessed, and the guest may be evicted with no refunds.  

 

Lost key or Damage:  The cost for replacement of lost room keys or damaged locks is applicable and a total amount of up to US $60.00 is to be paid immediately. You are liable for any damage howsoever caused (whether by the deliberate, negligent, or reckless act) to the room (s), hotel’s premises, or property caused by you or any person in your party whether or not staying at the hotel during your stay.  We reserve the right to retain your credit card details as presented at registration and charge such amounts as it shall in its sole discretion deem necessary to compensate or make good the cost or expenses incurred or suffered by the hotel as a result of the aforesaid.

Should this damage come to light after Check-out, we reserve the right and you hereby authorize us to charge your credit or debit card for any damage incurred to your room or the Hotel property during your stay, including and without limitation for all property damage, missing or damaged items, smoking fee, cleaning fee,  guest compensation, etc.  We will make every effort to rectify any damage internally prior to contracting specialists to make the repairs, and therefore will make every effort to keep any costs that the guest would incur to a minimum.

Pets: Pets are not allowed, except for service dogs.

CHECK-IN REQUIREMENTS:
Guests must be at least 18 years of age to check-in at the Sommerville Resorts.  In the interests of security and to prevent fraud, guests are required to confirm their identity by providing their valid government-issued photo identification (State driver’s license, passport, etc.) at check-in.  A valid, signed, and pre-approved credit card in the name of the guest registered is also required.  It is your responsibility to fully understand the way your bank processes pre-authorizations and charges to your credit/debit card.  Some banks hold pending authorizations for up to 30 business days.

PRE-AUTHORIZATION AT CHECK-IN:
We require pre-authorized credit cards/debit cards.  A pre-authorization is a temporary hold of a specific amount of your available credit limit balance placed on your credit/debit card for the full amount of your intended stay, plus tax.  All credit/debit cards are pre-authorized at check-in.  Pre-authorization is not a charge to your account, it is a hold on those funds.  Once your actual charge is posted at check-out it can take anywhere from 24 hours to 30 days for the original pre-authorization to be removed by your bank.  Generally, most banks release the hold within 3-5 days.  It is your responsibility to be aware of how your bank handles all your transactions, including pre-authorizations.  We are unable to remove pre-authorizations directly through our hotel.

GUEST REGISTRATION:
We require valid contact information from the guest making the reservations including first and last name, address, phone number, and signature.  The names of all guests occupying the room must be registered.  Information regarding your license plate/car description is also gathered at check-in for security.


Accepted credit cards: VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover

The hotel reserves the right to pre-authorize credit cards prior to arrival. Pre-authorization is not a charge it is a temporary hold. When you make a reservation, there may be instances that the hotel will pre-authorize your credit card. This means the hotel will check if your credit card is a valid credit card and if the card has enough money to cover at least the first night of your reservation. The hotel, however, will not proceed with the charge - it is a temporary hold. The length of the hold will vary, and your credit card company can advise how they handle this. By providing your credit card you expressly authorize us to pre-authorize your credit card as stated above.

Third-Party Booking:

Third-party credit card booking will not be honored. By booking a room at The Sommerville Resorts, you undertake to use the services in accordance with the Law, moral standards, good customs and public order, as well as that which is stipulated in these General policies. Consequently, you are obliged not to use the services for illicit purposes or effects and/or contrary to what is set out in these General policies, detrimental to the rights and interests of third parties or which could, in any way, damage the services, hotel and/or its image, otherwise the hotel has the right to rescind the contract and does not have to provide compensation.

Security System:   Hotel is using CCTV to monitor grounds and reception areas in order to deter crime and provide for the safety of the guests and property.

​

Our obligations: If your room is not ready for Check-In by 4 p.m. we will provide compensation to you either in form of a discount or in form of a comparable room. Should any disruptions to or defects in the hotel services arise then we will immediately attempt to remedy the situation as soon as we are informed by you. You are bound to make a reasonable contribution towards relieving the disruption and minimizing any possible damage.

 

Parking:  We offer free parking to our guests on our gated premises - Please note that there is no contract of safe custody. The hotel is not liable for any damage to or loss of any vehicles or their contents, except in cases of deliberate action or gross negligence by hotel employees. In this case, the damage must be alleged at the very latest before departing from the hotel premises.

Personal Data: By filling out our forms you expressly accept that your data is stored electronically for this sales contract and to provide you with hotel services. We do not give the data away to third party and we safeguard it according to the laws.
